Railroads are excessively paranoid about the public finding out about what really goes on behind company gates-and justifyably so what with all the shenanigans they pull. There is also the worry about security and this has a lot more validity. Watch what you say.

The railroad can fire you for talking bad about the company, they can justify this with the GCOR rule respect for rail company, in all honesty it is stupid to rant on facebook if your friends with a co worker, because it is public among your friends and their friends, they might be friends with other rails in the terminal who also might be friends with an official, A good example of this was in Minot, An engineer took a picture of her speedometer and posted it on facebook, another engineer replied to it while on duty, the company eventually found out and fired the two engineers and the conductor due to FRA violation, the conductor managed to return. Its not just the railroad Donald Trump sued a former beauty Padget contestant for 5 million dollars for slander because of a comment she posted on facebook, and dozens of other stories of people loosing their jobs because of what they post on facebook.

I think people put too much info on Facebook anyway. Some people damn near post when they have a bowel movement. Don't say anything online that you would'nt say in the shanty.

Any retard that even lists the railroad as your employer is begging to get fucked with by the carrier. I have Facebook however nothing, absolutely nothing is filled out in the profile section, nor do I have railroad friends on there. It's locked down as well. I use it for old military buddies and family. Does anyone really give a shit what you're doing at any given moment? Just wondering.
"I HAVE MADE MY FINAL POST ON THIS FORUM. MY THANKS TO A FEW WHO HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFULL, HOWEVER I AM NOT GOING TO WASTE MY VALUABLE REST, READING AND RESPONDING TO "US vs THEM" VITRIOLIC PEOPLE."

As a Union officer, a railroader, and a person who does not hide their identity I will answer this for you from experience.

Read my signature and then notice that NS nearly word for word adopted a similar disclaimer they request employees to post on social media.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT post anything that you would not say to anyone in front of anyone. Most of our companies have rules about conduct unbecoming and usually racism, pornography, or what could be considered slander can get you called to the carpet. Why risk it.

Do not post while on duty. It violates the CFR. Also remember cell phone pics on most phones document time and gps coordinates of when and where taken so do not use you camera phone while on duty and post it later as it can be traced by someone with a little skill.

Make your FB private and add a disclaimer that all postings are private, purely for entertainment and it is a violation of user terms to share any of your postings with others. Also note that if they disagree with your postings to un friend you and move on with life.
--all postings by this poster are public information and in no way should be construed to represent the positions, views, or thoughts of any particular railroad-for their official position please see the particular carriers website
