So I have decided to try ReactOS on the Steam Engine computer (whenever I get around to building it...) that said, does anyone have any experience with React? I'm thinking to put React on my old Laptop and play with it there. BUT I a little curious as to what to do about drivers for the Wifi etc...

I've never heard of it before but it looks like it's still firmly in alpha stage. Driver support is iffy and you can probably expect software bugs. Looks like you should generally use XP drivers and then 2000 drivers if those don't work. USB support was a recent development. Their supported hardware page has almost nothing listed for network hardware.

Let us know how it goes.

This amuses me... spend all this time to get an alternate OS running, then spend tons more time trying to get a Windows emulator to run.

You could have popped in a Windows 7 dvd and been watching porn within an hour after starting

Hah, I'm very familiar with WINE, I've been running it on some FreeBSD machines since 1998 so to see someone complain about getting it to work now-a-days has no idea what it used to be like to get WINE running successfully and if you managed to get it complied successfully you had a one in a hundred shot it'd actually run your software. The compatibility it has now is simply amazing considering where it came from.

Being that I'm not doing sysadmin type work all day anymore I've sorta fallen out of touch a bit with it and don't do near as much software experimentation as I used to. The few servers I have left in a datacenter mostly run themselves, all I have to do is some occassional updates and periodic maintenance/clean up on them. I like it that way I'm glad it's not 1998 and that I'm not on FreeBSD 2.2.8 anymore.
