    35 Whelen with a 225 and a 375 H&H with a 270.

One is for most anything in North America, then when you get in trouble with something that bites back, shift to the 375. God how I love the 375 H&H.

I like my shoulder in its socket. Shooting my Mosin Nagants with the damn steel buttplates is about all these old shoulders can take.

They really are not too bad, you are not going to shoot hundreds of rounds a day, but manageable for a few. Nothing like a 458 LOTT. I fired one, once. I am not sure I could ever be able to handle it proficiently.
