I've personally seen a pressurized hopper do this.
The plastics plant gets a certain type of chemical in those cars and they had a new guy working the dump.

When we get there, they come out and unhook, they have 2 hoppers on "production" so we make our pull and spot right there and RUN, we can switch the other part out later.
So in the hurry to get hooked back into production, the kid didn't do something in the line of lists to do, and while I was shoving the "hat" I looked over and then heard and saw the implosion. It was impressive, as the car still had probably 1/3 of its load! It actually ruptured the bottom of the car and spilled...
We didn't switch there the next day...LOL
