not being rude bro, but does it matter what a bunch of us think, after 3 pages of differing opinions, it will still boil down to one thing, What do you want to do!

others may need the job, but would they be good at it, or take it for the reason to truly help, or just for a job?
Another way to look at it is, if you take the VA job, and really help out Disabled Vets, ie. truly make a difference in their lives, that alone is worth more than any amount you would make for the RR. or, here's another perspective, you would be happy, and sleep well helping disabled vets, and someone who needs a job back on the RR would have that oppurtunity.

My opinion rarely counts for much, but that dont seem to stop me........
If I were in your shoes and offered a job that I might like, I would personally take it and keep the reserve for a time that i might not have an option. |

You may end up liking the job and never return to the railroad.

There is something I want to get off my chest. It's about that summer, when you went away to community college. I got an offer to do Playgirl Magazine, and I did it. I did a full spread for Playgirl Magazine. I mean spread man, I pulled my butt apart and stuff. I was totally nude. it was weird, I... I mean you probably didn't hear about it because I went under the name of Mike Honcho. But I just wanted you to know that. If you can hear me, if it got into your brain somehow. That I spread my buttcheeks as Mike Honcho. |

I am with the others here. If you want to work instead of taking a break you might as well try it out. It may also give you experience for something you may want to do in the future. I try to take advantage the oppurtunities in front of me just to see where they lead.
