So we have seen that no union has a monopoly on idiots....the part that pisses me off the most about that is both of them were union officals! WTF were they thinking? I truly do believe that one of our problems in the unions is that most people look at holding a position as just a title...and wish to enjoy what little perks there are without putting in the effort to earn them!
301 is right....our unions SHOULD function like the Christian principle of being selfless...Afterall...our unions purpose is to serve their membership! And lest any of them misguided souls forget their place....use your vote to put them out on their asses! But then again...that actually might require people to show up to meetings, and we all know that ain't happening!

The BLET constitution and by-laws describe a standard of behavior among members that might be decribed as coming from Christian mores. So it isn't a matter of we ought to, rather we as members are compelled to. The language is there already.

Dont let crew mismanagement,or any offical asshole bs any engineer on the Nazi Southern,it is the the BLE engineer contract that they can not force you to work in a demoted position.I wish they would take me out of service for not stepping down. They tried that junk a few years ago at Linwood,it did not work.

I get called every weekend to step down as a conductor, most of the time in terminals I've never even seen or haven't been to in years. They could care less about qualifications as long as a warm body fills the slot. God forbid you try to make a move somewhere you're not qualified but all that goes out the window when there's no fresh meat to go dogcatching.
Can't get any decent sleep because CMC constantly rings the phone looking for conductors. Funny...they furloughed those guys because they didn't need them, but now they suck up the setbacks to work as engineers and instantly run out of ground pounders. The crew callers rob from Peter to pay Paul every day using people off their regular jobs to fill vacancies but then have nobody to fill the slot they stole the man from in the first place. Trains sit and the managers bitch because nobody's where they're supposed to be, the lists are shot and (suprise, suprise) nobody wants to work 7 days a week while men are still furloughed. I hoped I'd never see this again after the last go-round but here it is and it's the same old sad story.
