Honestly this is how the carriers have done it for years.
Every major furlough I've been through has seen fewer of the men cut off be called back.
So if they furlough 40% of the terminal, you might be lucky to get back 20% of those at very best.

I Said a while back that the railroad itself learns to make do with less and less.
We went from 7 men on some locals, down to 5, then 3 and now in most cases 2 men!
In each case it was "how can we do that with fewer guys.
We went from 16 hours, to 14, now 12 and I see the days of 10 no to far!

The carriers have just learned to play this game and I don't see them stopping.

I don't understand these fucktards. They hold trains for man power, we have men cut off. They hold trains for motive power, we have engines in storage. Must be part of the big picture, cause I don't see it.

I agree with ya on the trying to do more with less......I never dreamed they would run without a caboose but they did.......but I myself don't think we will ever see a 10hr day for one thing the carrier would fight this tooth and toenail......would have to have a WHOLE lot more people and the amount or re-crews would double so I can't see it ever happending in my time left...

Why would any engineer in his right mind step back and do the company a favor. Why would anyone in their right mind step up! Fella's has anyone been paying attention. The carriers are suing the union to renegotiate your guarantee. Why are people so blind? Why can't union brothers stand together? For once in your selfish minds, don't step up or step back. Three conductors marked off yesterday on call to keep from working the 23G called for 3:00pm. They didn't even need to run the train. I was first out on the extra eng. board but didn't have any plans on the 4th. They finally found an extra board conductor. Don't give in to these crooks. They aren't your friends. They are your employer. Keep it that way. 100% rules compliance. Don't cut corners. And run your trains 5 mph under the recommended speed limit. They can't fire you for running under. I've said my peace for the day.

Well I have some good news. I noticed the other day that the Ft Wayne locals and Roanoke Indiana jobs at GM are back up for bid and go down the 12th. Hopefully this will get some guys back to work. Probably not but it is better than what we had. I think it is like 9 CO and B1 spots and 5 or 6 EN spots.

I agree any engineer hired before 1982 should never work a day as a conductor. Any engineer marked up after that date should not work as a conductor either. Ever! I mean that is what your agreement says right. Oh Brother Of the Large Ego, please tell me.

Default all furloughed employees back in the carolina district

After a few weekends of no crews, the powers to be, put the four furloughed conductors back on. Now we get RCO's. From one bad decision to another. Stay united. The worst thing that can happen is for greedy, think for themselvers...to ruin the brotherhood. My respect to all the guys out in the street.

Unity....Brotherhood....WTF is that? Our union meetings average 7-10 people...on a good day! Nobody gives a shit anymore...Its all about me,me,me....meanwhile, the few left who do care are stressing off years of their lives trying to just maintain what little we have left!I am going to do my small part to help our cause but I will have very little pity when I get back for whoever wishes to bitch about something when they will not sacrifice 2 hours a month to educate their selves as to what really is going on!

Well... The two engineers that went out as conductors that I know about... One was the VLC of the UTU-E and the other was the VLC for the BLET.

Leadership starts at the top brothers.

Well I just love brotherly love. So both unions were represented by the step backs.
At least we can't point the finger at each other's union. We could stick together though.
Gee, that's a new idea. Ament coined it right, most just don't give a damn. It's all about self serving. Maybe if all of our union brothers practiced the Christian way of life, that means not being self serving, we could get something accomplished. But, I not encouraged.
