They view us as notches on their belts. If we stand between them and their job, we are going down. Sorry to tell you SapAss, they only act "kind and gentle" to tempt us to relax and let down our guard so they can catch us violating the Rule of the Month. It is US and THEM (which is different than US versus Them). NS wants it this way. That is why a trainmaster who comes from the ranks is never kept at the home terminal. NS figures that OST has become to friendly and established good relations and may have favortism. No, NS wants to uproot the OST, point them to a place never seen and say, "These are a bunch of scoundrels here. They choose to violate the rules. They steal time. They do the bare minimum. This terminal needs whipped into shape." (END FINAL SHOT OF OST SERUM) This is why NS never keeps a trainmaster in one place too long. Because Familiarity breeds Friendliness. They cycle them around to different terminals. This all nurtures the divide of US and THEM. SapAss, IF IT COMES BETWEEN THEM KEEPING THEIR JOB AND YOU KEEPING YOURS, THEY WIN, YOU LOSE. YOU ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A QUOTA FOR THE MONTH, A WALKING LIABILITY. WAIT UNTIL THEY NEED TO MEET ONE OF THEIR PROMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND YOUR ASS GETS RAILROADED OUT OF HERE.

NO KIDDING! Sapper, I have done everything you mentioned and most likely more. However, the fact that the army makes us take in the suck, sure doesn't mean we enjoy it. Sure, you have to deal with it in the army, but out here in the private sector, we don't. In fact the FRA is in place to make sure that we don't have to put up with all this BS. There are some older fellas out here that deserve the right to retire right now, but can't because of the screwings that they have taken from the company and today's economy. Do you think it they should have to just suck it up and deal with it? Or is it ETHICAL to say that they should at least have a half ass comfortable ride while they are out here busting their asses? Think about it Jr.

To all of our fellow members, who have served in our military: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your service. But, please don't equate serving in the military with working on the railroad. They are not one in the same. Your discipline is to be admired. Your dedication is admirable. You no longer work under the officers who you respected and obeyed, while in our Armed Forces. Some of the guys, who are now in charge of your livelihood, could care less about you and your family. Some do, but, way too many do not.

The only thing to me that is even close to the military is some of the great friends I have made out here. Especially the older guys. Regarless of how crab ass some of them can be, I think they appreciate a new hire who plays the for the home team and truely has their back. OUT!

First off sapper prob doesnt even work for a railroad. Sounds more like some bulls&^* rail buff, whose feelings are hurt when we disparage his "dream". He's a flamebaiter and frankly doesnt seem to add to the community. If he is a supervisor then he will be of the 60 yr old asst. trainmaster variety, they prob cant stand him either. BAN HIM.
Topic at hand, like others said this is a WILLFUL violation of the FRA guideline. I prob would not have the nuts for an outright refusal to take it but I would make clear to whom ever is ordering me to take it that I will be passing their name along to both the superintendent and the FRA. Also to remind them of the personal civil penalties that could be levied. Might not do any good but it will see how committed they are. Then when I got home I might have Herpes caused by excessive cold. Last edited by Schinbone; 12-05-2008 at 02:32 PM. Reason: Clarify |
