As an away from home terminal, it has always been my favorite. Lots of stuff to do, easy to get around on pubic transportation, scenic, etc.

Unfortunately, a few years ago our on duty point and lodging were changed fro New Westminister and Burnaby to further out of town in Surrey, making it far less convenient to access downtown Vancouver.

I've been all over Vancouver and while I have never felt unsafe, some areas do have sizeable problems with homelessness and drug abuse. It is obscenely expensive to live in the city, too. For the most part it has always been a fun place to visit, but the cost of living would be too high for my current standard of living.

New West is kinda a pit, at least the yard area, but then again railroad yards aren't always in the best areas.
