They do happen and I am sure there is much more to this story then we will ever get a grip of.

Trust me, I can only imagine the crap that goes on that we never know about, no matter WHO is in office. What you think this stuff stops just because the dems take office?
LOL....No, it was just a helluva lot more prevelant when bush was in office. If dont mind having YOUR comp and phone conversations monitored then knock yourself out. Personally I have a BIG problem with it.

That's a cop-out, man. When Bush does it, it's evil. He's like Hitler attempting to take away all our civil rights. When Obama supports it, though, it's just an attempt to make us all safer.

FISA and the Patriot Act are like any other legislation that's supposedly designed to help us or make us safe. It's the government saying "We have to take your liberty away to save you." It's nothing but the destruction of our liberty, regardless of the politicians or the political parties involved.

And you believe this why, exactly? Just because it suits your political agenda?

Then why do you support the two major political parties in this country? Both of them generally support engaging in this behavior.

How do you know it was? Or it wasn't. Its pure speculation.
Its long been said that the CIA was in your back pocket. Often wondered myself how far that was anyway.

I'm not naive enough to believe this just "got bad" during the Bush years.
It has long since been that way, I just believe the Patriot Act brought it to everyones attention and that is how we all see it.

Your sure are having a hard time getting my point. Yes, The Patriot Act is in place and so is FISA and theres nothing we can do about it. We know one thing for sure tho, bush abused his power when he was in office. With Obama we'll see but to tell you the truth Im not worried. I think he'll do fine. You may not think so but you have your opinion and I have mine.

It's nothing but the destruction of our liberty, regardless of the politicians or the political parties involved. And I agree 100%. I dont remember what president it was that said something to the effect of 'If you have to give up ANY freedom for the sake of safety, then your no long free'

I sure as hell dont support both parties. The last time I looked, the Lib. party and Ron Paul were doing so hot in this country and never will because the media wont allow it. I just picked the lesser of two evils

Yeah. Perhaps you did. It's unfortunate that there's about a quarter inch separating the two.
