Without reading the actual report, I refuse to pass judgement.

If DHS was brain-dead enough to 'broad-brush' their description of a potential domestic terror risk in a way that ANY soldier could be seen as a terrorist simply based on where they served, and what they're doing after they return, then they deserve to be chastised.

However, if they gave some fairly well defined criteria and narrowed it down as Fox News suggested they did. What's the big deal?

I know I didn't come back from Afghanistan thinking about wanting to blow up my local Federal Office Building. But people that do, need to be looked after and helped as much as possible.

I find this upsetting...

terrorists have rights now in our country... rights to everything we do, legal reprsentation, housing, medical... ect...

yet law abiding citizens who honor the constitution and the bill of rights and amendments are now deemed by a federal agency as right winged potential terrorists.. Veterans are put into this catagory as well...

It's sick and perverted and it's beyond anything American.. It's an over reach of this administration to yeild control. This is crap and has crossed the line into corrupt in my book.

Ok, now having read the report here's my thoughts:

1. Momster, did you even read this? Because if you did, I don't understand how you or any veteran can be upset by reading this.

2. They're not suggesting that veterans should be seen as terror threats, in fact in that 9 page document (page 7 to be specific), there is 1 WHOLE PARAGRAPH committed to the subject of disgruntled veterans with 3 supporting statements. And it's not because the veterans in question are more likely to join rightwing extremist groups. It's the concern that rightwing extremists are likely to target veterans for recruitment. Two VERY different things.

3. All I see here is a typical US Government Executive Summary regarding the rising tide of RIGHTWING EXTREMISM IN THE US. Nowhere do I see anything suggesting a change in policy regarding the handling of veterans affairs when dealing with possible extremism issues. Fox News and the American Legion (of which I am a member) are simply overemphasizing the one piece of this document likely to cause more controversy.
